The Waterford, Ct. native was signed as a free agent by the Captains on Aug. 2, 2011. Bono was selected in the 11th round of the 2007 draft by the Houston Astros and has also spent time in the Florida Marlins organization. His best season in professional ball was in 2009, when he went 10-8 with a 3.20 ERA for the Astros A ball club in Lexington, Ky. A pitcher with strong control, Bono walked just 79 batters in 386.1 innings in affiliated ball. He began this season with the Brockton Rox (CAN-AM) before coming to Shreveport.
