An invaluable leader of the Captains 2010 championship team, Brian Peterson returns to Shreveport for his second year and 12th in professional baseball. Peterson is a superb defensive catcher who has played affiliated ball with eight different organizations and made it as high as AAA with three of them. After spending his rookie year in the Indians organization, Peterson was with Cincinnati from 2001-06. Arguably his best offensive years came in 2004 and '05. In both seasons he hit six home runs with 40 RBIs, batting .300 in '04 and .270 in '05. In his professional career, Peterson has thrown out 36% of base stealers (258 of 464 through 2010) and threw out better than 40% in four seasons. Peterson has been invited to big league spring training with numerous teams, most recently this spring with the Kansas City Royals. He hit .277 with three home runs and 36 RBIs last year while quarterbacking a terrific Shreveport-Bossier pitching staff. Born on Cape Cod, Mass., Peterson now resides outside of Dallas.
