Acquired via a trade with El Paso in August 2011, Gabriel is an eight-year veteran of professional ball. Drafted in the 20th round of the 2004 draft by St. Louis, the outfielder has spent the past four seasons as part of the American Association. Gabriel spent three productive years in the Cardinals system, making it as high as A ball in Quad Cities in 2006 when he hit .272 with seven home runs and 32 RBIs. One of his best offensive years came in 2007 with the Grays, a traveling team in the CAN-AM League, in which he hit .293 with a career-high 13 homers and 54 RBIs. He joined the American Association the next season in 2008 with Sioux City. He has also played for Grand Prairie, St. Paul, El Paso and now Shreveport-Bossier. He has hit .300 in two of his first three season in the American Association, including a 2009 campaign in Grand Prairie where he hit .316 with a career-high .830 OPS.
